What is body for life?

Body for Life is a 12-week fitness and nutrition program developed by Bill Phillips. It emphasizes both weight training and cardiovascular exercise, combined with a specific dietary approach. The goal is to transform your body and improve overall health within a relatively short timeframe.

The core components include:

  • Weight Training: Focuses on lifting weights six days a week, alternating upper and lower body workouts. Each workout is high intensity, relatively short, and designed to exhaust the muscles.

  • Cardiovascular Exercise: Involves three 20-minute sessions of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) per week. This can include activities like running, cycling, or swimming.

  • Nutrition: Emphasizes eating six small meals per day, spaced 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should consist of a lean protein source and a complex carbohydrate source. It also includes one "free day" per week to eat whatever you want.

  • Motivation and Mindset: The program stresses the importance of setting goals, visualizing success, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the 12 weeks. Tracking progress through photos and measurements is also encouraged.
